The Game of Pikmin™ — go to Student's Journey
From his home planet, Hocotate™, Olimar™ is on a long journey in his spaceship when his ship collides with a meteor and crashes to Earth, scattering pieces of his ship everywhere. He wakes up next to the broken hull of his ship in an unfamiliar landscape unable to breathe the air of Earth, surviving only because of his space suit which will only last 30 days.
With only limited ability to wander around and a limited view of his surroundings, Olimar must somehow find the scattered parts of his ship and return them to his disabled ship until his ship has enough capability to return him to space and his original journey.
Wandering around, Olimar eventually bumps into a strange tripod which plants a seed that grows into a plant. Doing the only thing he can do (besides walk around and look at things), he uproots the plant which transforms itself into a creature that looks like a carrot with two tiny legs and a leaf growing out of its head.
These creatures are called Pikmin and they are Olimar's allies and helpers and he needs hundreds of them. Pikmin come in a few different colors signifying different abilities. Olimar must understand their strengths and weaknesses as well as learn to master the control of his Pikmin horde so that he may command them effectively if he is to navigate the hazards, solve the puzzles, avoid the predators, get his ship back together before his space suit wears out.
